2008 Male Sale Catalog Submission Process

Here are the simple steps to participating in the Male Sale...

  1. Complete a show registration form; include payment for your male sale listings and a copy of your boy's ARI certificate with your registration whether he is entered in the show or not. Here is where you can obtain the show registration form.
  2. Send us the text portion of your catalog listing using our convenient web page.
  3. Send us a photograph suitable for publication to go with your catalog listing.
  4. Bring your boy to the show!

Your male-for-sale listing being published in the catalog is dependent upon the first three of these things being done by the published deadline.


Deadline & Disclaimer

The deadline for registration fees & ARI Certificate submission is February 11th, 2008.

You have a few days past that to get the male sale catalog information to us, but please don't wait till the last minute!

The deadline for Male Sale Catalog submissions is: Tuesday, February 15th, 2008.

Materials recieved after that date, whether the listing is paid for or not, will not be published in the catalog. Listing fees are not refundable due to late submission of information. We have a deadline date in order to have the catalog printed in time for the show so there will be No Exceptions.


Payment & ARI Certificate

You should have already paid for your male sale catalog listing along with your registration for the ABA show. If not, you can submit payment through the show registration form process.

A copy of your male-for-sale's ARI Certificate must accompany the registration form whether he is entered in the show or not. Your male-for-sale must be six months of age at the time of the show in order for our show to retain our AOBA certification.

The boy you are selling does not have to be entered in the show, but he needs to come to the show and be seen! While at the show, his stall should be marked with a "Male-For-Sale" sign that we will provide and he should wear the tag we'll provide for him so everybody knows he is for sale! You are welcome to add any other promotional materials to your stall or display booth to help sell your male.

Once we recieve the text portion of your catalog listing, we'll verify your payment and let you know if monies are still owed for the male sale catalog.


Text Information for Catalog

The best way to submit a catalog listing for the Male Sale is using our convenient web form.

Before actually trying to complete the form it is a good idea to have all your information gathered together in front of you. Length of description in the catalog is limited to 420 characters for alpacas priced under $2500, and 630 characters for those priced $2500 and up. Please type your description out in a word processor and do a character count check on it before submitting it on form. The form will not limit the number of characters you submit. If your listing arrives and the text description is too long, it will be edited at the male sale catalog editor's discretion.

Please complete the form only once with all information.
Please do not submit partial listings.

If the web form submission doesn't work for you at all, send an email with ABA Male Sale in the subject line and request assistance.

A Photograph

Ideally the photograph file would be...

  • In .JPG format
  • High Resolution (good quality for printer not screen, lots of dots per inch)
  • A minimum of 3" wide or tall, bigger is ok
  • Color or Black & White photos are both fine

All pictures will be published in the catalog black and white.

We will crop, size, and convert the format of your photo to make it look the best we possibly can. But the ultimate outcome will depend upon the quality of the picture you submit originally. If your original photo has been saved in a reduced quality for fast screen display on the web, already looks fuzzy on the computer screen, or is only thumbnail size, it probably isn't any good for the catalog printing process. Best to send an original picture at high resolution.

Photos MUST be submitted in electronic form. We are not able to scan hard copy photos; please do not send them to us.

Sending The Photo

The easiest thing to do is to REPLY TO the automated confirmation email that you will recieve about your Male Sale Catalog listing. Attach the photo file and SEND. That will make sure it goes to the right place and is matched up with the right listing.

OR

Send a new email to the Male Sale Catalog Coordinator
With a subject line: ABA Male Sale Photo The content of the email must include your name and the name of the boy being listed so that we can match up the photo with the text listing you just submitted.

OR

If the email thing just doesn't work for you at all... you can send a CD with the photo file burned on it to:

If you mail a CD please include a note with the CD that gives the name of the boy and your name so we can match the photo to the text listing. Remember, the CD still has to arrive by the deadline date!
